After an incredible Saturday filled with plenty of Sorcerer of the Magic Kingdom finds, Sunday brings us an entirely new adventure! We would actually be able to try the experience out for ourselves as Disney opened the card based role-playing game up for guest playtesting! It was incredible fun testing out the new experience and just past the break we have our thoughts and more as we invite you to come and train for sorcery right along with us…

Wonder if we might see a genie appear from this magic lamp? Hint: we will ;)

Did I ever tell you I was a sorcerer locksmith in my past life?

Arabian camera disguise…

I’m not sure whether all locations have three cameras but for sure this one seems to…

I wish to test Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom on the hard difficulty level!

Speakers above…

[Genie's voice] Patience my young sorcerer, at least you haven’t been stuck inside this itty bitty living space ;)

Sneaky, sneaky…

I almost missed this location…

But alas there are two Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom locations on the Main Street USA side street…

I didn’t get to preview the windows on Main Street USA but trust me when you see the videos you”ll see there isn’t much variation in the capabilities of the many portal set ups.

Sound is such a crucial part of the overall experience of Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom and I was assured by one of the designers of the attraction that more sound elements are yet to be installed at the various locations.

I see you…

Panasonic cameras and Philips Monitors…

Needless to say that when I saw this sign, I jumped up for joy, ran to Mickey in Town Square Theater, gave him a high five (yes those still exist) and got in line to experience the new magic!

And look at the spiffy new color map we received to help us on our mystical journey with Merlin!

These look a ton like the maps we were given at Animal Kingdom during our preview test run of an interactive game over in that park. Yes, almost certainly coming soon to an AK near you.

The maps show all of the locations of the mystical portals and are useful for the average guest though I think it would be even cooler if you actually had to track them down on your own…call me crazy.

Still, this map makes for a neat keepsake from the parks as yes you get to keep this and the trading Sorcerers Spell Cards!

As you can see each location has a special unique symbol that helps to identify the location and is used to help guide you to the correct portal.

Did someone mention Magic Spell Cards? Why yes…I think I did!

If you notice the one above is the Special Key Card that magically unlocks the various portals. (One of the designers told me this wasn’t NFC, though it clearly has an embedded chip and works just like an NFC chip would, perhaps it is a proprietary Disney technology that has much the same abilities as NFC) Anyone know for sure?

These windows will never be the same again!

And that is a very good thing.

When you read my preview later this week, it will make clear that this experience is not perfect but it holds a ton of promise even with the limited sample we’ve been able to see of it in action.

Like magic out of seemingly nowhere mystical portals will appear for guests.

Watching as kids of all ages, including those young at heart activate the portals with little trouble is a true testament to both the technology but more importantly to the vast testing that the attraction’s designers have already put Sorcerer’s through.

This Adventureland locale is very neat as the portal is hidden in a fireplace within Tortuga Tavern.

Simulated hot coals…

So this is why Iago is no longer at Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room ;)

More Spell Cards…more magic!

Each magical card has a Special spell that is attached to certain attributes that will be a major part of the game in the harder difficulty level of this card based role playing game.

The amount of props at Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom locations at least so far are very limited but this one is totally awesome looking.

Da Mouse and Orlando Attractions Magazine trading spell cards, yeah that happened! Actually it was my mom and she was ready to give the kid all her spell cards for a chance to have a monopoly of Princess spell cards. There wen’t my Wall-E :)

I believe this was extended back in order to accomodate one of the Frontierland Sorcerer locations…

A young sorcerer in training meets the Great Merlin.

…I need a magic lamp.

Moving right along we find the last current location on Main Street USA.

The screen perfectly masked as just another painting…

…but we know better than to let that fool us!

Well my friends…this is just but a small taste of Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom and we plan on bringing you more details and coverage throughout the week.
Stay tuned for so much more from Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, including videos and a preview with thoughts and impressions.
