Downtown Disney is in the midst of a massive transformation into Disney Springs that will more than double the amount of stores, restaurants and entertainment options available at the Disney retail metropolis. And now we are seeing the first two storefronts opening at The Landing at Disney Springs in the form of Apex by Sunglass Hut and Chapel Hats. We’ll focus on the latter retail experience for now because its touch of class and California-based vibes are just a whole lot of fun and speak to the varied experiences Disney Springs’ guests will be able to enjoy.
You won’t be able to withstand its magnetic draw.
As you approach The Boathouse restaurant and its towering icon that also serves as a symbol for The Landing at Disney Springs, you won’t be able to withstand the magnetic draw of Chapel Hats seated just alongside the path towards the tower. Copper archways adorning the entryways to this magnificent brick-walled storefront that has beautiful tall glass windows showing off the stars of this show, hats and the people who can’t help themselves but to try one on or in the case of most try many atop their head.
There is an unmistakable wonder to the discovery of one’s very own hat.
Whether it be the beautiful ladies adding to their glamour with the adornment provided by a Fascinator large or small, or the sharp young man reaching out for Indiana Jones’ very own wool felt fedora, there is an unmistakable wonder to the discovery of one’s very own hat, an item that quickly becomes an extension of our own personality. With the dawn of the hot and new often comes a return of the classic, the tried and true but often with some special twist. Sometimes its a flat-billed baseball cap with a pop of colorful koi and in the case of many who came to witness the opening night of Chapel Hats, it’s often those individuals who are the twist by adding to the traditional lines their own distinctly flavorful persona. Millenial or old-timer everyone seemed to have one thing in common at this store, a big smile and it wasn’t hard to see why.
From the owner to every member of the staff that I had a pleasure of interacting with on this night, they couldn’t have been more easygoing and yet excited because they know they are bringing something special to Disney Springs that speaks for itself. Originating in Canada and based in California with stores in Hawaii amongst other wonderful locales the approach of the store is inviting, friendly and most of all fun. It’s a nice change of pace for those of us on the East Coast or just trying to relax from the hustle and bustle of a Disney vacation. Now there is just one question left, what hat will be the first one we rock?
