Just last month we brought you our first, rather expansive construction update from the land of AVATAR at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.  It was a breathtaking sight, seeing the steel housing for the e-ticket attraction that will take guests soaring through an adventure amongst the world of Pandora.  We have a small update in regards to that building but our focus today is on the landmark visual spectacle that the AVATAR Floating Mountains will represent at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.  Like we’ve seen time and time again, Disney’s mountains begin as tons of steel welded into place to support the outside layers of steel and concrete that are molded into intricate designs like we’ve seen in the 3D model of the world of AVATAR at Animal Kingdom.  The towers of steel already make for a surreal sight and get us excited for the journey ahead as AVATAR grows closer every day to being a reality at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park.  For now though we invite you to join us as we take a brief look at the construction site that will soon be home to Pandora’s mystical beauty.

Wonder if the instruction manual says: Insert Floating Mountains here.

Like the tusks of mastodons the Floating Mountains support beams round out towards the sky.

This isn’t your average construction site.

Just steel now but soon it will be sight of beauty and imagination.

Believe this structure rises above the Pandora boat attraction perhaps to anchor more theming elements. Of what sort? Time shall tell.

Soarin’ over Pandora doesn’t show a ton of progress but we can see that a lot of work is going on inside even at these early stages.

A mysterious blue tarp captures our imagination on the left and scaffolding rises the height of the building on the right.

What are the tarps for? Clearly to protect something from the elements or perhaps from other work on the construction site.

A closer look shows the installation of an interior wall but not what goes on behind the blue tarp. We believe the tarps are located where the attraction vehicles will eventually be attached to but with the building exposed it’s far too early for that installation to be taking place.
