The Epcot Food & Wine Festival 2011 Experience

As if celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Walt Disney World Resort wasn’t enough, this past weekend treated us to an incredible opening weekend of Epcot’s Food & Wine Festival 2011.  Every year, Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival adds incredible flavor to its World Showcase and there are exciting new additions to this year’s event that should make it yet another stand out year.  While there is no substitute for enjoying this amazing event for yourself, Da Mouse has captured the experience of being there that will no doubt make you want to go there yourself.  But of course you are in luck because the Epcot Food & Wine Festival runs through November 13th! So enough whetting our your appetite, let’s hit this amazing retelling of an incredible time with food and wine.

This is one of the best Food & Wine Festival entrance centerpieces ever...or at least that I can remember 😉
Disney has released a Spaceship Earth inspired QR Code that will direct your mobile device to a full-featured web app with the menu of this year's event and much more.

First we travel to the land of Hawaii...
Well let's look at the menu...
This neat Spaceship Earth QR Code will bring up the menu in Disney's Food & Wine Festival web app on your mobile device.
Each food pavilion has an information board with details about where your food & drink comes from.
You also find many of the components of your food, in the this case pineapples.
Nothing like food with a view!

Time for a Hawaiian feast! We begin with the tender-liciious Kālua Pork Sliders and wash that down with a Kona Pipeline Porter & a Seven Tiki Mai Tai.
Seriously with tender pork, sweet-and-sour Dole pineapple chutney and spicy mayo how can you go wrong? This is definitely a must-eat on your trip around the World/Food Showcase.

Well after a quick bite from Hawaii, our foodie cravings continue on over at Australia.

This grilled lamb chop with a Shiraz reduction was supremely flavorful and ultimately the best dish I sampled at the Food & Wine Festival on this trip. It was in such high demand that they would periodically run out stock during the weekend. Another must-eat if you ask me.

It is cramped food prep in some of these booths...
Argentina's Beef Empanada was definitely tasty and a good size in comparison to the usually small portions at Epcot's Food & Wine Festival. Still, the best part of this Argentinian meal was the pairing with the Terrazas Reserva Malbec.
