Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, the all new card-based game/adventure to save the Magic Kingdom from Disney Villains, began guest playtesting just yesterday and we can’t be more happy to share all of the fun and excitement of this new experience with you. We have so much to share in photos, videos and of course our impressions of this amazing preview and we are working as quickly as possible to have those updates for you. As you wait for tons of Simple Disney Fun in the coming days, let’s begin where we started our journey with Sorcerers this weekend, searching for the newest locations to be used in this latest Disney attraction.
***Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Spoiler Alert***
Well looks likes we’ve got yet another reason to love the Main Street side street!
Is that an homage to Disneyland I see…
Walt Disney is famous for his love of trains…
…while Walt Disney World now has a new fondness for key locks!
Once you have seen the set-up of the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom locations you begin to spot patterns such as speakers up above…
The decoration was simple…
…but there is something, well special about this window at least for me.
I’m almost certain this area was extended back a bit to accomodate the installation…
Well what do ya know? Looks like one of the most famous locales on Main Street will have a little sorcery on its porch.
The cameras were installed at this location, though I also overheard some of the Imagineers talking about installing the lighting for this specific locale, I don’t know if it was part of the testing on Sunday though it does appear on the map…
I love simplicity and this lock has a strong simple character that just fits…
Speakers installed above once more…
With no map yet on Saturday, armed with an incredible Disney fan hunch I found this Sorcerers location inside the Main Street USA Train Station.
Since the usual lock had yet to be installed…
…well I found my own…
Another thing you might spot at a Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom location…
…are the cameras that make much of the magic happen!
LED track lighting is also like magic…
Lighting seems to be an important element at these locations, for both presentation of the area and I assume to allow the cameras to read your magic spell cards.
While I never saw this location in action during my experience with the preview, I love how this blends in with its surroundings…
…and is tucked away in a more secluded spot, speakers and all 😉
Because we know you love details too…
We’ll have more from Main Street later, but its off to Liberty Square where this Sorcerers location calls home.
The Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Sticker on the ground, which I’m hoping gets a more permanent treatment in the near future, hey a kid can dream right?
This spot is located near Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe and right by Princess Tiana’s meet & greet.
Can’t go wrong with some lighting and sound…
Nearby is a temporary/perhaps permanent distribution location for Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom…
One of the first locales to pop up for Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom and it is time for Da Mouse to make a return visit.
This is another great location for Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom and it blends in nicely.
While I wasn’t told the “magic” behind these locks I was told it is not NFC…does anyone know how this works exactly?
Tell me your secrets Mr. Lock…oh well guess I will have to work on my Sorcery…
Though sometimes I wish the cameras were/could be more hidden they really aren’t very noticeable especially for the average guest who isn’t looking for them…
After all what guests will look to see what brand of camera (Panasonic) Disney is using, oh yeah me 🙂
This would be the window with the clearest portal video and I much prefer it than the others, more on this later…
This is one beautifully ornate window…
…and it is just far enough from the crowds to be an effective locale for Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom.
This is simple but beautiful work to mask the speaker grills…
…it all blends in rather seamlessly here.
…a little pixie dust…
The ornate nature of these windows helps to hide these cameras quite nicely into the overal decor.
I can’t wait to show you the video of this in action, soon, very soon!
This location in Fantasyland as you undoubtedly noticed sits adjacent to Mickey’s Philharmagic.
Moving along in Fantasyland we visit a location we spotted in a previous update…
Yeah cameras, don’t you just love them, trust me you will as soon as you see what magic they can do!
Perhaps these stickers are only a temporary placeholder but I just don’t like them. It’s not that they look bad, it is just that I’m worried about how long they will hold up to wear and tear (this photo being a good example). But really it is just that it would be so incredible to see a golden plate installed in the ground where these stickers are. Who knows perhaps Disney already has this in the works and count me in as certainly hoping so!
Very close by, perhaps too close by, is yet another location at Sir Mickey’s in Fantasyland.
It may not seem like much now but wait till you see how this portal lights up with some of your favorite Disney characters.
Does anyone know where this lock design is referenced from in Disney lore?
Love when the cameras are so ingeniously hidden, as I sure the Imagineers do too.
Where possible they really go all out with the speakers and lighting 🙂
My good friends and sorcerers in training this is just barely scratching the surface of an incredible weekend of Sorcery, make sure to check back often and/or follow us on twitter @damousnews
