Today is an exciting day at Magic Kingdom as it marks the official opening of Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom. The attraction pits you up against the most villainous Disney foes who are set upon conquering the park we all know and love. But not to worry as Merlin and some of your favorite Disney heroes will guide you on your heroic journey to save the Magic Kingdom from all those who wish it harm.
The attraction and Merlin’s Sorcerer recruiting base is located at the Main Street Fire Station, where guests can go and grab the tools (special Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Map & Sorcerer Spell Cards) that will propel them to victory on their quest. Fire Station regulars will be happy to see the return of the Fire, Police and other rescue badges that have made their way back into the overall theming of the Fire Station. But the larger enhancements to the experience, that we’ve brought to you since the first day Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom debuted, can be seen at the actual Sorcerer Portals throughout the Magic Kingdom. From new lighting to smoke rising from Aladdin’s Magic Lamp little theming touches have been added that will help to round out the magical feeling of the new attraction. Now onto the pictures!
The Main Street Fire Station is such a beautiful building…
…and now it has something quite special inside!
Shhh…it will be our little Secret Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Recruitment Center 🙂
Interim Brigade Chief Merlin!
Pretty neat fonts…
The banner is nice though I still think most people will walk right on past this locale…
Let’s head inside shall we?
Yeah, this is a pretty sweet looking sign.
Ok, I’m sold, where do I enlist?
The firehouse has a simple understated look now. Some things work better than others.
For example, I like that the Fire, Police and other rescue badges have made a glorious return.
But as far as story goes, I can’t help but feel we are ordering a counter service meal and not preparing for an epic battle to save the Magic Kingdom.
Perhaps this is the one time where I feel the traditional build up to an attraction with the corny preview room video is missing. Not to say they don’t have it here, it’s just that it is not immersive.
It is hard to focus in on the story when there are so many distractions.
Did I mention I love the badges!
They were a beautiful thing before and they look even better now!
For all that I said that the story isn’t quite immersive enough for my tastes in the Fire Station, the theming elements of the building itself are quite numerous and beautifully done.

It’s tiny things like this that make the room have a period feel…
This is the pre-show to the pre-show video where the story of Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom begins to unfold but it’s difficult to pay attention to it when you have a line of guests moving ahead of you and such.
Finally, you step up to the counter where you will grab your Sorcerer Spell Cards and Map. If you are a veteran of the experience you will be allowed to choose where you want to begin your adventure (a very welcome feature).
Now onto the portals! As you can see mood lighting has been set up around several of the windows in different forms to assist with the camera’s vision of the Sorcerer Spell Cards…
…and in the case of the changing LED lighting to add to the overall experience, especially at night.
It makes it very beautiful at night though it takes away any exploration factor the attraction may have had, though the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Maps already did that too.
Still overall, this and many other enhancements are a very welcome sight.
The lighting in this Adventureland spot is very nice as well.
There are many other enhancement at the various portals which really add another layer to the experience…
…though generally while a ton of fun and an experience that most will enjoy, there still could be more work to be done to make this a more immersive experience.
We’ll have more from Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom soon so stay tuned!
