With Big Thunder Mountain Railroad set to reopen later this month (May 28th, 2012), testing has begun on this staple Magic Kingdom attraction. Lots of work continues throughout the attraction’s queue and even throughout the ride itself and we have a two-part photo update series that takes you from end to end of the refurbishment. You’ll see the return of the Big Thunder Mine Train and tons of other details that caught our attention on our latest venture through Frontierland. It is Big Thunder Mountain and it awaits you just after the break.
Less than a month to go!
Nearly everything has received a fresh coat of paint…
So close and yet so far!

The sleek dark brown wood look couldn’t last forever as it doesn’t actually fit with Big Thunder’s theming but I’ll admit it is looking pretty nice in its new perfectly aged refurbished look.
A lot of work still left in and around the queue building…
A ton of work has gone into what you are beginning to see emerge…
All the new roofing makes a big difference…
It is nice to see the vibrant colors return to Big Thunder Mountain…
Don’t miss part 2 of this series with incredible photos, including pictures of the Thunder Mountain Trains…
