A multi-year renovation and transformation of Disney’s Polynesian Resort is well underway and when it is completed the resort will have a new look, new offerings and a new name, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort that pays homage to its original designation.
[column size=one_third position=first ]The new lobby sees the removal of the beloved water and flora feature in favor of additional space and seating areas to accommodate for the additional amount of guests expected to stay at the resort’s Disney Vacation Club (DVC) expansion currently under construction. For many Disney fans the latter is a sore spot and Disney will have a tough task ahead proving this modernized lobby is an overall improvement versus the nostalgia factor and beauty of the current incarnation.[/column]

[column size=one_third position=last ]One thing most Disney fans will consider a victory is the announcement of Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, a version of the Disneyland Hotel’s now famous adult retreat. In Anaheim it provides an oasis for relaxation, conversation, specialty cocktails, themed fun and amazing interactions with the cast handling it all. Though the concept art for Walt Disney World’s version leaves much to be desired we hope that the magic isn’t lost in translation as it is ported over.[/column]
Out of all the announcements from Disney Parks today, this seems to be the one we’ll just have to wait and see how things progress to see the long-term impacts and benefits to the changes though luckily we won’t have to wait that long. Traders Sam’s Grog Grotto and some of the other work at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will be completed in 2015.
