Everywhere you look, Downtown Disney has been showing signs of its transformation into Disney Springs. Whether it is the new parking garage or the lamp posts emblazoned with the Disney Springs logo, one can’t help but notice change is in the air. But even with all these signs nothing quite announces the arrival of something at Disney like an icon does. Now The Landing, Disney Springs’ first phase, has its icon and it is really beginning to feel like Disney Springs is here. From concept to reality, The Boathouse Lighthouse has taken to the skies with a refreshing green and white palette that now accents The Landing’s skyline and welcomes guests as they approach the new expanded area adjacent to the former Pleasure Island. It is the anchor to the new area and an architectural feature of The Boathouse restaurant set to open later this year. There is more construction ahead before The Landing can officially open and the Downtown Disney name can be retired but we set out to capture the spirit of Disney Springs’ latest addition, a beautiful lighthouse reminiscent of Florida’s rich and now nostalgic history.
