Disney can still create amazing things when it wants to.

Disney Springs Town Center Gets Ready For Public Opening

It’s been a long time coming since 9/11 and the more recent “Great Recession” but the Walt Disney Company’s investment in Walt Disney World is finally underway in a very public facing way.  It began with New Fantasyland and although that didn’t fix the variety of the Magic Kingdom’s attraction woes, it did shore up the most critical land at the theme park.  Now with the addition of Disney Springs at the former Downtown Disney area, Disney has given its retail wonderland such an expansion that one could almost view this as Disney’s long-awaited 5th gate.  It isn’t that but the attendance that I believe it will witness over the next few years could certainly make for that case.  If my assumptions are right, Disney Springs’ Town Center will have successfully given tourists a reason to skip or delay their Mall at Millenia visit and keep yet more dollars inside of the confines of Walt Disney World as the Walt Disney Company continues to market itself to the affluent consumer as they have with more and more of their offerings.  That being said, Disney Springs will provide all visitors an enhanced guest experience with more dining, shopping and entertainment, valet and more convenient bus service.  This along with better parking accommodations and even roadway improvements make for a Disney Springs that feels very different from what was there before.  And that is precisely where our focus turns to now.

Disney Springs Town Center Before Opening Day

We are talking Disney Springs’ Town Center that opens officially to the public for the first time this Sunday, May 15 at 10 a.m. and though everything won’t be quite finished, it will still mark the culmination of Disney’s hard work over the past few years to get to this point.  Now it is time for guests to enjoy the fruits of this Disney Springs and perhaps find their new Florida oasis right in the heart of Florida.

It looks perfect, did you expect anything less from Disney?

We’ve taken some wonderful aerial photos of the new area along with a few ground level photos to give you a preview of what’s to come.  Town Center is predominantly an outdoor mall with a heavy Spanish influence in its architectural styling though there is obviously various other influences amongst the aesthetic.  Featuring stores like Alex & Ani and Pandora, guests will no doubt find reason to rush to enjoy the new area on their next visit to the world.  As for the Springs themselves, the waters are absolutely beautiful and give a sense of vitality to the area as a whole.  The Floating lanterns are a nice touch and we can’t wait to see what effects they may have in store for us later this week.

We’ll be covering the opening of Disney Springs live through Facebook Live and Periscope this Sunday Morning beginning at 10 a.m. so don’t miss a second of our coverage and of course we’ll have more in-depth coverage right here on Da Mouse.  See you all then!
