Disney’s Road to Coronavirus Recovery: Disney Presents Walt Disney World Reopening Plans LIVE!

A week after Universal Orlando presented and received approval for its reopening plans, The Walt Disney Company will present reopening plans of their own for Walt Disney World Resort to the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force. We’ll be sure to hear all about the social distancing guidelines and procedures for Cast Members and guests as Disney World will seek to reopen its hotels and theme parks after recently partially reopening their entertainment and dining district Disney Springs. Join Da Mouse LIVE! at 10AM EST as the Walt Disney Company continues on its Road to Coronavirus Recovery and presents to the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force that includes top business leaders from the County. We will be curious to see if Walt Disney World might have any special procedures that we haven’t seen already employed in Shanghai or at Disney Springs and we’ll be hoping to finally get at least a partial reopening date for Walt Disney World hotels and theme parks. It’s information that affects so many and we hope to provide the insightful analysis you’ve come to expect from Da Mouse at a time when we are all searching for the truth along with hope for a brighter tomorrow.

Thank you for joining us today, we’ll have more as soon as Disney shares more information in the coming days and weeks.  We still have no confirmation on the opening of Disney hotels, perhaps we’ll get that later today or soon thereafter. We appreciate your support here on Da Mouse and like you we are cautiously hopeful about Disney Parks and their reopening in these uncertain times.

Disney has now received approval for its reopening plan from the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force. Orange County Mayor Demings will sign his approved recommendation letter and send it to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for final approval, that is widely expected.

Disney clearly wanted to wait till after the 4th of July which is typically a peak event.  The fireworks shows that would have been expected would not be easily physically distanced. But at least we have some great news for Orlando, Walt Disney World Cast Members and The Walt Disney Company.

Orlando Health just said that they’ve seen their numbers creep up over the weekend. The overall trends are good with that caveat that I’ll say is somewhat concerning because the Theme Parks still haven’t reopened and we are already seeing a tick upwards. Nothing to the extent of a spike but with COVID-19 unfortunately a spike can happen quite rapidly.

Orange County Mayor Demings touting the relatively low positivity rate here in Orange County for COVID-19 which makes him feel better about the reopening of the theme parks. Expect a unanimous  approval today, same as Universal received last week. Hoping Disney presents first but Sea World is also expected to present today as well.
